Donations by the Onassis Foundation

The board of the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation has donated the sum of 80,000 euros to the government of Iran for earthquake relief for orphaned children and homeless families in the stricken city of Bam. The foundation has also donated equipment from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center in Athens, updated with funds from the foundation, to Armenia’s State University Hospital in Yerevan. The donation is to help set up the Alexandros S. Onassis University Clinic, now under construction and due for completion within the next month, according to the rector of the Yerevan medical school. The clinic is expected to be officially opened in March, in the presence of a representative of the foundation and the Greek ambassador in Yerevan.
