Hopes EMST will open this year
A decision on Friday by the Culture Ministry to keep Katerina Koskina, director of Greece’s National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST), at the helm of the organization until December 2017, appeared to open the way for the museum’s opening this year.
According to a ministry statement, the state is expected to submit a new request for a 3-million-euro Stavros Niarchos Foundation donation which was withdrawn in November last year.
Koskina’s term was expected to end at the same time as those of the museum’s current board members, paving the way for an international competition to select a new leadership in 2018.
