2nd International Conference on Organic Farming
DIO is one of the organizers of the 2nd International Conference on Organic Farming this weekend in the town of Thiva (Thebes), just north of Athens. The conference is being organized jointly by DIO, the Attica and Viotia Union of Professional Organic Farmers, Polis (a non-governmental organization) and the Municipality of Thiva, under the auspices of the Ministry for Agricultural Development and Food. Apart from exhibits of supplies for organic farmers, there will be a meeting of the Greek chapter of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), a presentation of the EQUAL program on organic livestock breeding, talks on various related subjects including international certification standards, the trade in organic products and the effects of genetically modified organisms, as well as a seminar on the USDA NOP Final Rule.
