Complexions Dance Company at the Halandri Arts Center

Innovative American dance group the Complexions Dance Company, on its first visit to Greece, will give three unique and spectacular performances at the Arts Center of Halandri on March 18, 19 and 20. Founded in 1994, the company aims to combine innovative choreography and original musical compositions with more traditional ballet techniques. Its goal is to unite different artists from various racial, cultural and social backgrounds. In order to achieve that, the group is keen on using a wide variety of means of communication, including cinema, television, photography, fashion, poetry, theater and street dance. The company’s two artistic directors and co-founders, Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, both started their careers at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Versatile dancer Desmond Richardson, who has been distinguished in classical, modern and contemporary dance, was for seven years a principal dancer at Alvin Ailey and his credits include a Tony award nomination in 1999 for the Broadway musical production of «Fosse.» Richardson has had extensive experience in television, film and video in the United States and abroad. Internationally acclaimed choreographer Dwight Rhoden was also a principal dancer at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and has danced with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and the Ballets Jazz de Montreal as well, among others. He has appeared in numerous television shows and documentaries in the United States, Canada and Europe, has delivered a lecture series and has acted as an artistic consultant at various American universities.
