Greek artist invited to participate at the Venice Biennale as a guest

How often do we come across a Greek among leading names on the international arts scene? The good news of Nikos Navridis being a guest artist at the Venice Biennale in the «Always a Little Further» exhibition, curated by Rosa Martinez, justifies the belief that local artists can shine beyond Greek borders. Thus the Greek presence at the world’s greatest visual arts event is boosted – Giorgos Hadzimichalis’s «Hospital» will represent Greece at the country’s pavilion at the Giardini. Navridis, who lives in Athens, avoids any sense of the defeatism that often characterizes a number of his colleagues. Last year, the artist presented a well-received solo show at Madrid’s ARCO exhibition. «Before every important international exhibition, each artist has his own personal anxiety and fears,» said Navridis to Kathimerini. «What is important is to feel that your work can stand and participate in a greater dialogue alongside the work of other artists.»
