IHT hosts conference and family gathering in Athens
The routine was pleasantly interrupted this week when publishers, editors and journalists from partnerships with the International Herald Tribune descended on Athens for the newspaper’s third Publishing Alliance Conference. After the traditional visit to the Acropolis after their arrival on Wednesday, the guests visited Kathimerini’s headquarters in Neo Faliron and then attended a dinner at the Hotel Grande Bretagne where the conference was to begin the next morning. At Kathimerini, they were welcomed by Editor in Chief Constantinos I. Angelopoulos and Managing Editor Nikos Konstandaras, who is also the editor in chief of Kathimerini English Edition, published with the IHT in Greece and Cyprus. Apart from IHT senior editorial executives, such as Alison Smale and Serge Schmemann, visitors included the publishers and senior editors of the other newspapers in the IHT partnership, such as the Moscow Times, the Daily Star of Egypt and Israel’s Haaretz.
