Ground Zero photos revisit 9/11 tragedy in exhibition

On September 8 the Hellenic American Union will host a photography exhibition titled «Ground Zero: New York, a Year After» by Haris Papadimitrakopoulou. Health Minister Nikitas Kaklamanis will open the exhibition at the union’s building at 22 Massalias; it is the product of a photojournalism mission to New York in 2002 by Eleftherotypia’s Sunday edition, a year after the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers. Four years have passed since the attack and it still has not been decided whether Ground Zero will remain as a monument or be refashioned as a sign that life goes on. The photos, most of them previously unpublished, provide their own answer. There is always something to see, not just one but many years later. As long as we do not forget.
