Perrotis College marks 8th anniversary

The American Farm School promotes the values my husband and I believed in,» said Alike Perroti at this year’s Dimitris Perrotis Remembrance Day held recently at the school near Thessaloniki. «Those values are quality education, practical experience, entrepreneurship and dedication to one’s fellow man,» she said. At the opening of the post-secondary studies program at the American Farm School titled «The Dimitris Perrotis College of Agricultural Studies,» the school’s president, William McGrew, along with teachers and students honored the memory of Dimitris Perrotis in the presence of his widow Aliki, whose generous bequest in the form of a trust fund in memory of her husband eight years ago made possible the founding of Perrotis College, providing new educational opportunities for more and more students. It is the first private foundation for tertiary agricultural studies in the region to prepare tomorrow’s leaders in agriculture and the food industry in the Balkans. Aliki Perroti is a frequent visitor to the school, where she talks to students and teaching staff about their lives and studies. This year’s simple ceremony was attended by the American Farm School’s former president Bruce Lansdale and his wife, along with Perroti’s friends such as Seth Frank, Giorgos Aidinis and his wife, Maria Matsa, the president of AWOG in Athens Katerina Papathanasiou, Richard Jackson, who is president of Anatolia College, and Nikos Tsavdaroglou of the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce.
