Play on young refugees

Children forced to leave their homes and countries and become refugees is the subject of a play opening at Xenia Kalogeropoulou’s children’s stage, known as «Mikri Porta» (Little Door). Written by popular children’s playwright Mike Kenny, «Boy» goes on stage this Sunday. The play was translated by Kalogeropoulou and is directed by Thomas Moschopoulos. Sets and costumes are by Lili Pezanou, music by Cotik, stage movement by Martha Kloukina and lighting by Lefteris Pavlopoulos. The cast is led by Orpheas Zafeiropoulos, Katerina Mavrogiorgi, Stergios Nenes, Ilias Panayiotopoulos, Stavros Sioulis, Petros Spyropoulos and Maria Filini. Proceeds from the opening performance at 11 a.m. will go to the Greek Council for Refugees. The play comes under the aegis of the General Secretariat for Youth, the City of Athens, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Lambrakis Research Foundation.
