Pearl Jam, Hooverphonic added to growing list of summertime shows

Two more shows have just been added to the growing list of concerts in Greece this coming summer. Hooverphonic and Pearl Jam will play to their fans here in early June and late September respectively. Both acts will be touring with new albums. Belgian trio Hooverphonic – comprising Alex Callier, the group’s bass player, main songwriter, and producer, along with guitarist Raymond Geerts and Geike Arnaert – will play their first show in Thessaloniki on June 2 at the Lazariston Monastery theater, before traveling to Athens the next day for a show at the Olympic softball facility in Hellenikon, southern Athens. This performance will make up part of the Ejekt Festival. Hooverphonic will be in Greece not long after the release of their fifth album, «No More Sweet Music.» The Seattle, Washington-formed Pearl Jam, the grunge scene’s most enduring act, will play their first-ever Greek show in Athens on September 30, as part of a world tour in support of a new self-titled album, the act’s eighth studio effort, set for release on May 2. «It’s the strongest album we’ve ever made,» frontman Eddie Vedder recently remarked. «Our sound, which is rougher than it was on previous albums, reflects the bad living conditions in the USA.»
