Twenty years of Special Olympics are celebrated in a grand fashion
Celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Special Olympics in Greece have gotten under way with a reception given by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Athens Dr Wolfgang Schultheiss at his residence. To follow is a concert at the Athens Concert Hall by the Palast Orchester with Max Raabe, a performance that will take the audience back to the period between the wars, to Berlin and Marlene Dietrich, as well as to the prohibition period in Chicago and to the times of the Charleston. Raabe sent a video message to the reception expressing his pleasure at the prospect of performing in Athens for such a cause. Special Olympics President Gianna Despotopoulou thanked the guests and the Special Olympics athletes present as well as the ambassador for supporting the events.
