‘Bau’ A celebrated and long-serving artist who has made a major impact over the decades with her interpretations of songs from Italy, and, at times, from beyond, Mina is back with a brand new album. This is the first time since the 1980’s «Kyrie» album that Mina has made an album featuring a complete cycle of songs. Eight of the releases’s 13 tracks were written by the duo of Andrea Mingardi and Maurizio Tirelli. The rest of the songwriting credits are shared by a variety of contributors. But, regardless of who the numbers are coming from, Mina proves her class throughout the entire album. This is a fabulous album but, local listeners, please pay heed to a word of warning: You may feel a sense of melancholy creep into your system should you begin to wonder why the contemporary Greek circuit fails to produce such high-quality work.
