The staff of Kathimerini SA at their annual New Year’s vassilopita-cutting ceremony

Like all big families who keep traditions alive, Kathimerini SA is no exception. The company’s New Year’s cake (vassilopita) was cut at the Neo Faliron building on the fifth floor with its view of the Saronic Gulf and Kastella. Everyone was there, from Kathimerini’s CEO Aristides Alafouzos to the staff members from Kathimerini’s editorial and technical sections, the business section, as well as the Argonaut shipping company, Kathimerini English Edition, Explorer publishing, and Melodia Radio. The names of 20 lucky staff members (out of a total 509) were drawn, the winners of a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip for two people to the European destination of their choice. We all toasted the health (with a glass of Santorini Vinsanto) of Aristides Alafouzos, Themistocles Alafouzos, Kathimerini’s editor in chief Antonis Karkayiannis, editorial advisers Nikos Nikolaou and Nikos Naoumis, managing editors Nikos Konstandaras and Costas Kallitsis, and Alexis Papachelas, and wished for good news for the country and Kathimerini.
