Fill up with books and literary events
The message from Eleftheroudakis, which has recently opened two service station bookstores, is «Refuel with books.» The company has already opened three outlets at train stations – the electric railway station at Piraeus, and the metro stations of Aghios Antonios and Fix. Now, in a joint venture with its affiliate Vivartia, Eleftheroudakis is bringing books to road warriors. There are two stops at the refueling point, one on either side of the highway, at the 40.5-kilometer mark on the Athens-Corinth road, after the tollgates. Book launches Patakis publications welcomes all to the launch of Kleanthis Danopoulos’s book «Athootites» (Innocences) at 9 p.m. on July 8 at the Rematia Theater in Halandri. Iolkos publications launch Fotini Papastamatiou’s book «O kosmos tis apoleias» (World of Loss) at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Ianos bookstore. Maria Anamaterou will provide musical accompaniment. A night in Beirut «Arab Renaissance – Contemporary Arab Literature» is the subject of a lecture at Ianos bookstore on Wednesday, July 4. Iskandar Habas, poet, translator, philosophy professor and literary critic at Assafir newspaper, will examine the influence of Greek thought on the Arab world. The evening will conclude with readings of his work in Arabic and in Greek. Synaspismos Left Coalition invites readers to hear the lecture and ask the speaker questions.
