Myths and news from the B&E Goulandris Museum of Modern Art on Andros
At the opening of the exhibition «Andre Masson and Ancient Greece» at the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation’s Museum of Modern Art on the island of Andros, the museum’s director Kyriakos Koutsomallis announced that the owners of the building in Mets, Athens, had decided not to make it available and so a new site was being sought for the museum to be designed by international architect I.M. Pei to house the Goulandris collection. The Masson exhibition includes 85 works on the theme of mythology from museums, foundations, private collections and the artist’s family. Masson’s son and daughter, Diego Masson and Lilly Masson-Angelopoulos, were at the opening, with Didier Ottinger, the head curator at Paris’s Centre Pompidou, who co-curated the exhibition. The exhibition runs until September 30.
