Young artists participating in a philanthrophic project

Anticipating the holiday spirit, «Dreams Come True» is a group art exhibition that turns wishes and dreams into images. The exhibition, which opened yesterday, includes works by 25 young artists, most of them painters who work in a figurative mode. It is a visually pleasant exhibition with works in different styles. An art nouveau, decorative quality is found in the paintings of Elena Papadimitriou and a kinship with surrealism in the works of Spyros Aggelopoulos. Although resembling paintings when seen from a distance, the compositions of Penny Geka are made of threads sewn into letters and motifs. The exhibition also includes the atmospheric still-life photography of Yiannis Bournias and, as a contrast, the photographs of a supermarket and a subway station turned into a surreal composition by Venia Behraki. The exhibition, which is taking place at the Zoumboulakis Gallery and curated by Iris Kritikou, is organized by Citibank. Half the proceeds of the sale will be offered to Together for the Child, a non-profit, philanthropic organization that works with mentally disabled children. At the Zoumboulakis Gallery (20 Kolonaki Square, 210.360.8278) until tomorrow.
