Mark Murphy jazzes up Gazarte on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

With a career spanning over 50 years and nearly 40 albums under his belt as well as six Grammy Award nominations, Mark Murphy is rightfully considered to be one of the most influential jazz vocalists of all time. His live performances have always met with praise from the critics. From «Meet Mark Murphy» in 1956, to his latest (2007) album «Love is what Stays,» Murphy has forged a strong career for himself, without ever conforming to mainstream pop. Particularly in the 70s and 80s, he was perhaps one of the only musical talents who, without ever lowering his standards and always remaining true to classical jazz, dared to experiment and put forward his own music, taking inspiration from various things that moved him: American novelist Jack Kerouac’s books, Brazilian music and hard-bop are only some of his interests, which cover a wide range. Don’t miss out on his performances at the Gazarte Club in Gazi this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Gazarte, 32-34 Voutadon, Gazi, tel 210.345.2277.
