Cinema scores by famous orchestra

Next weekend, music and film lovers can enjoy two concerts showcasing melodies from timeless movies written by well-known composers, performed by an internationally acclaimed orchestra whose name has been linked to hundreds of films over the past 50 years. Conducted by Alexandros Myrat, the Munich Symphony Orchestra is set to perform on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday concert is part of the «Bridges» series and will feature pianist Christos Papageorgiou, while the Sunday concert will take place in the morning, as part of the «Acquaintance with the World of Music» series and will include an introduction by Efi Averoff-Michailidis. The program will feature works by Alfred Newman (who wrote the fanfare music for 20th Century Fox), Max Steiner (composer of the «Gone with the Wind» score), John Williams, Maurice Jarre («Lawrence of Arabia»), Ennio Morricone, Philip Glass and Eleni Karaindrou, among others.
