Dario Fo play in Thessaloniki
The National Theater of Northern Greece tells the story of explorer Christopher Columbus through Dario Fo’s satirical work «Isabella, Three Tall Ships and a Con Man,» in which the author has managed to make an old tale a contemporary social issue. Directed by Yiannis Rigas, the play is currently being staged at Thessaloniki’s Vassiliko Theatro (Royal Theater). The director noted that reading the text of «Isabella» for the first time made him feel he had got lost in a world of historical parallels and political references but then it became clear that the author was poking fun at world political history, at his own personal story, as well as at his audience. The play stars Costas Santas as Columbus and further features Nikos Kolovos, Polyxeni Spyropoulou and Panos Argyriadis, among others. The sets are by Kenny MacLellan, the costumes by Christos Broufas and the music is by Giorgos Christianakis. Vassiliko Theatro, White Tower Sq, Thessaloniki, tel 2310.288.000
