SNFCC Open Days | Athens | To June 26
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Faliro Bay, southern Athens, opens its doors to the public for a series of events running to Sunday, June 26. “Metamorphosis: The SNFCC to the World” aims to acquaint visitors with the cultural space that will soon house the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera. The new complex was designed by architect Renzo Piano and is set amid the Stavros Niarchos Park, a brand-new green space in the capital. “Metamorphosis” features free-admission events including performances, concerts and a video art program. Limor Tomer, general manager of concerts and lectures at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, is the events’ performance curator, while acclaimed avant-garde artist Laurie Anderson is the guest artistic director. The program includes performances by Syrian musician Omar Souleyman and Greek singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki. Doors open from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. For more information, go to www.SNFCC.org/metamorphosis/.
