TIFF | Thessaloniki | November 2-12

The annual Thessaloniki International Film Festival – one of the foremost cinematic events in the Balkans – gets under way in the northern port city on Thursday, November 2, with more than 30 Greek films and documentaries shedding light on developments in the industry here, a section on the films being produced in the Balkans, 14 selections in the International Competition section, dozens of independent productions from around the world, special tributes, master classes, film presentations, pitch sessions, parties and much, much more. There is also a free-admission section titled “Invisible Hands,” comprising five new films that tackle the issue of unemployment from different angles. Screenings and events takes place at the Olympion Cinema on Aristotelous Square, where there is also a special booth for information and tickets, and at the port’s warehouse complex, where the cinema desks also sell tickets in advance.
