TANKERS Even firmer conditions on VLCCs with rates above W/S 110 for tankers with eastern destinations. Stasco has fixed M/T «Sunrise Jewel» for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 16 at W/S 110. – On Suezmaxes, the market remains steady in W. Africa and also in the Med. The 130,000-ton cargoes out of W. Africa are being fixed at W/S 110-115 with US destinations, while in the Med., 135,000-ton ships are being fixed at W/S 140-145. – Aframaxes in the Med. at W/S 140; in the Cont. at W/S 170 and in Caribs at W/S 200. – Alpine has fixed M/T «Gaetano d’Alesio» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 28 Odessa, discharging Med., at W/S 137.5. – In the Cont., BHP for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 28 UK, discharging UKC, has fixed at W/S 185. – In Caribs, SPI has fixed M/T «Genmar Endurance» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 3, discharging USAC, at W/S 195. – In W. Africa, Sun has fixed M/T «Pentathlon» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 17, discharging USAC, at W/S 112.5. DRY CARGO Chartering activity very slow in all areas, though freight levels, especially for Panamaxes, are still at good levels. – On Capers, Kline has fixed M/V «Lowlands Glory,» 173,000 dwt, built 2002, delivery Dec. 1-5 Japan, trip via Australia, redelivery Japan, at USD 17,500 daily, while Cobelfret has fixed M/V «Mellow Wind,» 170,164 dwt, built 1997, delivery Passero Nov. 22-23, trip via Bolivar, redelivery UK, at USD 18,000 daily. – Panamaxes in Far East still in good demand on T/C periods. IMC has fixed M/V «An Angel Galini,» 73,400 dwt, built 2002, delivery Japan Nov. 28 – Dec. 5, for three to five months’ trading, at USD 10,250 daily, while Bunge has fixed M/V «Imperial,» 68,676 dwt, built 1989, delivery end Nov. Japan, for 12 months trading, at USD 9,250 daily. – In the Atlantic, Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «Pacmonarch,» 74,381 dwt, built 2000, delivery US Gulf Dec. 2-10, redelivery Japan, at USD 11,200 daily and USD 310,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, ED&F man has fixed M/V «Elixir,» 44,007 dwt, built 1982, delivery end Nov. US Gulf, redelivery UKC, at USD 10,000 daily. – On ore cargoes, Noble has fixed M/V «Myconos» for 200,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 10-20 Brazil, discharging China, at USD 10.70 per ton with two days’ load and 30,000 tons discharge.
