Africa, Kangqi has fixed M/T «Hyundai Star» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading January 20, discharging China, at W/S 97.5. – Suezmaxes also out of W. Africa in good demand with a number of fixtures up to first week of January. Sun has fixed M/T «Alliance Tonnage» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading January 7, discharging USAC, at W/S 120. – Strong rates still apply for Aframaxes in the Med. and Cont., while Caribs remain extremely weak with Blanchard having fixed OSG tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading December 15 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 102.5. – On Suezmaxes, Erg for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading December 28 Egypt, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Eco Europa» at W/S 142.5. – In the Cont., Petrogal for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading December 27 UK, discharging Portugal, has fixed Lundqvist tonnage at W/S 235. – In Caribs, Blanchard for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading December 15 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, has fixed OSG tonnage at W/S 102.5. – In W. Africa, Addax for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading January 5, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Olympic Flair» at W/S 110. – In Arabian Gulf, Sasol for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading January 15 Iran, discharging S. Africa, has fixed M/T «Iran Delvar» at W/S 130. DRY CARGO The market’s upward trend is continuing. – On Capers, Kline has fixed M/V «An Angel Dynasty,» 171,000 dwt, built 1999, delivery Taiwan January 1-5, trip via Australia, redelivery Japan, at USD 22,500 daily, while same charterers have fixed M/V «Rubin Grace,» 166,939 dwt, built 1995, delivery Ijmuiden January 5-10, trip via Brazil, redelivery Japan, at USD 26,000 daily. – Panamaxes are also in good demand, especially in the Far East. Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «An Angel Progress,» 69,406 dwt, built 1989, delivery end December UK, trip via Brazil, redelivery Far East, at USD 12,400 daily while Seven Mountains has fixed M/V «Alpha Harmony,» 74,492 dwt, built 2001, delivery China December 12-14 for 45-60 days’ trading, at USD 13,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, IVS has fixed M/V «Pacific Career,» 43,415 dwt, built 1993, delivery S. Africa December 15-22, redelivery Continent, at USD 9,800 daily, while Gearbulk has fixed M/V «Alam Aman II,» 47,301 dwt, built 2001, delivery US Gulf December 10-12, redelivery Med., at USD 13,000 daily. – On Ore cargoes, Ansdk has fixed M/V «Cape Brazil» for 145,000 tons of cargo, loading January 3-13 UBU, discharging El Dekheila, at USD 8.10 per ton with 2-day load and 30,000 tons discharge.
