TANKERS TANKERS A quiet start to the week with modern Aframaxes in the Med. maintaining W/S 190, while charterers have started quoting Feb. loading dates. – Market in N. Europe remains firm, with a number of vessels on subjects with firm rates for end Jan. loadings. – Caribs even quieter, with the 70,000-ton cargo liftings loading out of East Coast Mexico at W/S 100-105. – VLCCs with minimum fresh inquiry with SK having fixed M/T «Musashi Spirit» for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 15, discharging S. Korea, at W/S 157.5. – On Suezmaxes very few new fixtures have been reported. Conoco has fixed M/T «Matilda» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 5 UK, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 190. – In the Med., Erg for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading end Jan. Libya, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Ist» at W/S 175. – In the Cont., Preem for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 26 Denmark, discharging Sweden, has fixed M/T «Natura» at W/S 177.5. – In Caribs, Williams for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 2 Colombia, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Constitution» at W/S 110. – In W. Africa, Vitol has fixed M/T «British Progress» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 26, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 137.5. DRY CARGO Capers remain weak with their index on Friday losing 41 points, totaling to 2244. Panocean has fixed M/V «La Cordillera,» 165,055 dwt, built 1996, delivery China end Jan., trip via S. Africa, redelivery China, at USD 17,500 daily. – Panamaxes still firm, especially in the East with good demand also on T/C periods. Glory wealth delivery Philippines end Jan., trip via Australia, redelivery China, has fixed M/V «Irene’s Vigor,» 65,224 dwt, built 1983, at 12,600 daily. – In the Atlantic and on the grain route, US Gulf / Japan Hanjin has fixed M/V «Andhika Loreto,» for 54,000 tons of cargo, loading Jan. 25 – Feb. 5, at USD 27.90 per ton with 11 days all purposes. – On smaller sizes, Coil has fixed M/V «Alcinoe,» 34,219 dwt, built 1986, delivery UK end Jan., trip via Poland, redelivery Alexandria, at USD 8,000 daily.
