EBRD’s 2021 investment in Greece at €838 mln

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s investments in Greece totaled 838 million euros last year, it said on Thursday, making the country one of its top five funding recipients.

More than half of last year’s investments were in green projects, a 20% increase over 2020 when the EBRD’s total funding in Greece reached €797 million.

Since 2015 the bank has funded more than 5 billion euros’ worth of projects in Greece.

“The EBRD is working with the Greek authorities on implementing the country’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, part of the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, and on deploying the funding to the Greek economy,” the bank said.

The EBRD’s involvement in Greece will focus on five priority areas, it said – green transition, digitalization, exports, economies of scale and innovation.

It expects funding to reach up to €1 billion this year. [Reuters]
