Greece is Austrians’ top holiday pick
Greece is the top vacation choice for Austrians, according to a survey conducted by Gfk Austria for Austrian Airlines, a member of the Lufthansa Group that has increased its flights to Greece in response to rising demand.
Greece ranks top of the list of destination preferences on 12 percent, ahead of Spain on 10 percent, and the US, UK and Turkey on 9 percent.
The survey showed that 42 percent of respondents were interested in visiting culturally important destinations, with 37 percent saying they wanted to spend their vacation by the sea, while transatlantic trips ranked third with 24 percent.
Austrian Airlines board member Karsten Benz expressed surprise, saying that ‘the findings do not confirm the stereotype of lazy holidaymakers mainly interested in the sun and the sea.’
