Retail spending in December drops 13.2 pct

Greek retail sales declined by an annual pace of 13.2 percent in December with consumers slashing spending in furniture and electrical appliances, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Tuesday.

Spending on homeware items plunged by just over a third, in comparison with the same month a year earlier, while 14 percent less was spent on books, ELSTAT added.

Spending on fuel increased in December by 13.6 percent year-on-year, ELSTAT said.
