Exports jump 40 pct in January

Greek exports rose forty percent year-on-year in January to 1.38 billion euros, the Panhellenic Exporters Association (PEA) said on Monday.

“The continuation of this growth for 2011 will largely depend on the strength of European economies, particularly in traditional markets for Greek products, political developments in the Middle East that shape petrol prices and the implementation of government initiatives aimed at boosting the sector,» according to PEA President Christina Sakellaridis.
