Cell companies stand to pay huge levy

The government is planning to impose a one-off payment on Greece?s three mobile telephony networks totaling 270 million euros this summer for renewing their licenses, said market sources.

The news prompted a strong response from Cosmote, Vodafone and Wind, who said that while they recognize that the Finance Ministry is in dire need of filling its coffers fast, the payment should not be in the form of a one-off lump sum, especially at this juncture.
