Bourse sees its early-year gains erased

The Athens stock market will start the new week on Monday with its main index at 1,297.36 points, having lost 8.25 percent since the start of the year.

Although the first seven weeks of 2011 saw a rise for local stocks, the bourse has lost over 16 billion euros of its capitalization since the index peaked on February 18 at 1,715.13 points.

What is more, there is no sign of a significant rebound in the coming days.
