Athens bourse feels effects of global uncertainty

The Athens Stock Exchange main index plummeted on Friday morning as markets around the world reacted negatively to the growing uncertainty surrounding the eurozone debt crisis and the US economy.

Shortly before 11 a.m., the ATHEX general index fell 4.28 percent from Thursday?s closing to 1,039.88 points. Turnover was at 9.51 million euros.

Of the shares traded, 17 declined, six moved up and four remained unchanged.
