Gurria: Implement all measures urgently

Greece needs to battle the vested interests of unions to deal with the fiscal crisis, the secretary-general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Angel Gurria, told Kathimerini in an exclusive interview.

The Mexican economist stressed that this is a condition not just for the reducing the debt but also for the country to rebound.

He branded what the country has already achieved ?remarkable,? noting that ?it is vital for the reforms program to continue and for all measures to be urgently implemented.?

Asked about the reaction to reforms, Gurria replied: ?If all of society benefits, its interest must oppose that of the small group reacting. I know it does react, which is why it takes a lot of courage.?
