Troika negotiations impose fresh losses on stocks

The local stock market boarded the southbound train again on Friday on worries about the course of the troika?s negotiations with the government.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 891.93 points, shedding 3.98 percent from Thursday?s closing figure of 928.86 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 4.61 percent to end at 372.56 points.

Alpha Bank and Eurobank continued their slide, falling by 9.26 percent and 7.19 percent respectively, but Hellenic Postbank fared even worse declining by 10.16 percent. Marfin Popular Bank was the only blue chip not to post losses on Friday, remaining unchanged.

In total, 37 stocks moved up, 92 went down and 43 remained unchanged. Turnover came to 55.3 million euros.
