Stocks heed European markets’ declining course

The storm that swept European stock markets on Monday did not spare the Greek bourse, although turnover was particularly low. The impact of the troika?s early departure last Friday was also evident.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 863.90 points, shedding 3.14 percent from last Friday?s closing figure of 891.93 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 3.74 percent to end at 358.64 points.

OPAP posted gains of 3.91 percent, but most blue chips registered losses, led once again by Alpha Bank (down 10.71 percent) and Eurobank EFG (9.86 percent).

In total, 30 stocks moved up, 112 went down and 44 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to just 37 million euros, down from 55.3 million on Friday.
