Bourse losses contained

Non-bank blue chips such as OPAP and Coca-Cola HBC helped the main index of the Athens Exchange contain its losses on Monday.

The session had started with a steep decline after the entry of Proton Bank into the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund and worries about a greater-than-expected haircut to Greek debt.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 740.06 points, shedding 0.58 percent from last Friday?s closing figure of 744.37. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 1.87 percent to 293.66 points.

Marfin Investment Group added 8.80 percent, OPAP rose by 8.24 percent and Coca-Cola HBC gained 2.48 percent, while Hellenic Postbank lost 18.69 percent and Piraeus Bank shed 16.84 percent.

In total, 37 stocks moved up, 104 went down and 27 remained unchanged.

Turnover came to 48.9 million euros, against 40.3 million last Friday.
