Stocks begin week with small gains
The Franco-German agreement on plans to bolster the European Union secured the continent?s stocks some moderate growth on Monday, and the local bourse was no exception.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 693.12 points, adding 0.35 percent to Friday?s closing figure of 690.68 points.
The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 0.31 percent to close at 273.19 points.
Piraeus Bank led blue chips with gains amounting to 6.92 percent, followed by Viohalco (up 5.57 percent). Titan cement lost 3.08 percent.
In total, 76 stocks registered gains, 59 posted losses and 29 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to just under 30 million euros, down from Friday?s 34 million.
