Elliniko development process begins on Thursday

The process of finding an investor for the plot of the old Athens airport at Elliniko, on the capital?s southern coast, begins on Thursday with the publishing of the invitation for expressions of interest.

Environment and Public Works Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou told a parliamentary committee yesterday that the government?s aim is to find four or five interested parties for the project of the plot?s development by March.

By that point, all environmental terms will have been made clear and land usage will have been determined by law, the minister pledged.

“The project exceeds the life span of this government and possibly that of the next one,» he added.
