Stocks slide further on EU summit worries

Stocks on the Greek bourse ended the week with moderate losses due to worries rising from the outcome of the European Union summit in Brussels on Friday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 675.80 points, declining by 0.22 percent from Thursday?s closing figure of 677.31 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index shrank by 0.57 percent to close at 263.69 points.

On a weekly basis the main index contracted by 2.15 percent.

Ellaktor was the blue chip leader, posting gains of 3.48 percent, while Marfin Investment Group suffered the heaviest losses, registering a 10 percent drop.

In total, 67 stocks ended with gains, 74 posted losses and 24 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to a meager 26.3 million euros, even lower than Thursday?s 27.1 million.
