Marginal gains for stocks in disappointing turnover

The lowest daily turnover of the last 13 years on the local bourse saw blue chips register minimal growth on Thursday, but small-caps suffered losses.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 660.14 points, adding 0.08 percent to Wednesday?s closing figure of 659.62 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index grew by 0.15 percent to close at 253.41 points. However the small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index gave up 0.96 percent.

Hellenic Postbank recovered some of Wednesday?s losses, rising by 4.74 percent on Thursday, while OTE telecom surrendered 3.59 percent of its value.

In total, 66 stocks registered gains, 81 posted losses and 26 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to no more than 25.7 million euros, down from Wednesday?s 30.7 million.
