Quiet session sees stock index post weekly gains

A sleepy session on the local bourse on Friday saw the main index crawl upward once again to end the week with gains of 1.31 percent compared with the previous Friday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 749.32 points, expanding by 0.20 percent from Thursday?s closing level of 747.85 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index grew by 0.05 percent to close at 306.11 points, while the mid-cap index climbed 0.62 percent

Outperforming other blue chips were Marfin Popular Bank (up 5.92 percent) and Duty Free Shops (3.49 percent), while Titan cement lost 4.83 percent.

In total, 95 stocks registered gains, 59 posted losses and 26 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to just 35.4 million euros, the lowest of the last 32 sessions, down from Thursday?s 54.5 million.
