Stocks yo-yo repeatedly before settling for 1.3 pct loss

The main index of the Athens bourse turned from black to red and back 13 times on Wednesday before eventually ending the day with losses due to the reserved stance of investors ahead of the private bondholders? verdict on the debt swap plan.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 745.23 points, dropping 1.30 percent from Tuesday?s closing level of 755.06 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 1.22 percent to close at 305.88 points. However, mid-caps posted gains of 1.15 percent.

Titan cement outperformed with growth of 2.87 percent, while Marfin Investment Group fell 5.50 percent.

In total, 77 stocks registered gains, 82 posted losses and 25 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 59.1 million euros against just 70.4 million on Tuesday.
