Task Force puts pressure on gov?t

The two guarantee funds that would go some way toward bolstering growth in Greece, but have already been delayed, were at the focus of talks between Development Minister Anna Diamantopoulou and the head of the European Commission?s Task Force for Greece, Horst Reichenbach, on Tuesday in Athens.

The first fund is for the support of small and medium-sized enterprises and the second for the funding of major infrastructure projects, particularly road projects. The two parties discussed ways for funds to be released from Athens so that the contribution by the European Investment Bank can also be disbursed, too.

The funding of 180 high-priority projects was also on the table, with the Commission representative insisting on the optimum and swift absorption of funds from the National Strategic Reference Framework.

Reichenbach and Diamantopoulou further discussed how the business environment can be improved, although the bill drafted to lift certain obstacles to entrepreneurship will not be tabled within this week in Parliament after all.
