PPC, OTE power local bourse to more gains
Utilities OTE telecom and Public Power Corporation (PPC) bolstered the local bourse after the halfway point of Friday?s session, driving the main index up.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 764.80 points, growing by 1.93 percent from Thursday?s closing level of 744.77 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 2.09 percent to close at 306.56 points.
OTE rose by 3.72 percent while PPC grew by 6.55 percent. Their gains in the last three sessions add up to 17.23 percent and 13.29 percent respectively. Mytilineos outperformed with growth of 8.24 percent.
In total, 96 stocks registered gains, 57 posted losses and 24 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 88.8 million euros, rising from 49.3 million on Thursday.
