Stocks continue their rising course

The fifth consecutive session of gains for the majority of stocks on the Greek bourse saw the focus returning to banks and turnover sliding considerably on Monday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 776.79 points, growing by a 1.57 percent from Friday?s closing level of 764.80 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 2.55 percent to close at 314.38 points.

Marfin Popular Bank outperformed with gains of 14.34 percent, followed by Eurobank EFG (up 8.82 percent) and Public Power Corporation (7.54 percent). OPAP lost 1.76 percent and Coca-Cola HBC fell 1.73 percent.

In total, 85 stocks registered gains, 63 posted losses and 25 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 64.3 million euros, against 88.8 million last Friday.
