Bourse enjoys sixth consecutive session of gains

Stocks had a sixth straight day of gains on the local bourse on Tuesday, led by OPAP, which was buoyed by expectations for the sale of its state-owned stake. Other non-bank stocks also sent the main index higher.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 781.88 points, growing by 0.66 percent from Monday?s closing level of 776.79 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 0.30 percent to close at 315.32 points, while small-caps lost 1.83 percent.

OTE telecom led the blue chips with gains of 4.10 percent and OPAP added 3.17 percent. Marfin Popular Bank was the worst off, dropping 7.26 percent.

In total, 65 stocks registered gains, 81 posted losses and 32 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 58.3 million euros against 64.3 million on Monday.
