Natural gas pumps at fuel stations

State utility Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) is in advanced talks with an oil company to add natural gas pumps to the latter?s service stations.

Taking advantage of the high cost of gasoline, DEPA is planning to create natural gas filling points at 12 fuel stations in Attica, in Thessaloniki and along the Athens-Thessaloniki national road.

Originally DEPA had a natural gas station at Anthousa in eastern Attica for refilling buses and garbage collection trucks exclusively, but since the introduction of dual-fuel cars (using gasoline and natural gas) a couple of years ago it has been available for private vehicles too.

Ahead of the installation of natural gas pumps, DEPA is also planning an advertising campaign to promote the fuel as a cheaper alternative to gasoline.
