Ex PPC chief takes helm at privatization agency
The Finance Ministry announced on Wednesday that Takis Athanasopoulos has been appointed as the new chairman of Greece’s privatization agency.
Athanasopoulos is a former chairman of the Public Power Corporation (PPC) and the vice president of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) which was founded by Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras.
Yiannis Emiris, the former head of investment banking at Alpha Bank, has been appointed managing director of TAIPED, the ministry said. He replaces Costas Mitropoulos who resigned last week, citing a lack of political will to push through with selloffs.
Athanasopoulos replaces Yiannis Koukiadis who resigned last month.
TAIPED?s work has been beset by bureucratic hold-ups and was derailed by the political instability caused by the two recent national elections.
