Anemic bourse session sees index edge near 600 points

Despite the relative growth that many blue chips posted on Friday, helping the main index of the bourse edge closer to 600 points, most stocks posted losses in yet another anemic session.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 598.12 points, adding 0.91 percent to Thursday?s closing figure of 592.74 points. On a weekly basis the index gained 2.02 percent.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded on Friday by 1.08 percent to close at 215.31 points.

Ellaktor led blue chips with gains of 2.88 percent, Mytlineos added 2.86 percent and Alpha bank gained 2.52 percent.

METKA gave up 1.68 percent and Cyprus Popular Bank lost 1.67 percent.

In total, 51 stocks posted gains, 74 registered losses and 20 remained unchanged.

Turnover shrank further to 15.8 million euros from Thursday?s 20.2 million.
