Finance Ministry confirms budget deficit ahead of target in August
Greece?s state budget deficit in the first eight months of the year was 12.5 billion euros compared with a budget target of 15.2 billion euros, according to figures from the Finance Ministry.
The primary deficit in the period was 1.4 billion euros, compared with a target of 4.2 billion euros, the Athens-based ministry said in an e-mailed statement today. The figures are in line with preliminary data released on Sept. 11.
