Council of State to rule on Cavo Sidero tourist scheme on Crete
The Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court, is to have the final say on whether a major tourist development can take place in Cavo Sidero, northeastern Crete, Skai reported on Monday.
Minoan Group, which is hoping to build a luxury complex with up to 2,000 beds, released a statement in September saying that the project will go ahead after being fast-tracked by the government.
It had been held up for many months amid protests by locals and environmental groups.
However, Skai reported that a complaint filed by local groups concerning the environmental impact of the project, which will cover 2,500 hectares and will include a golf course, means the Council of State must give its go-ahead as well.
